With the announcement that Sacred Heart Parish would be closing, their often used food pantry would need a home – they came to St. Mary’s looking for help and we were happy to invite them in! Given their work in providing works of mercy to those in need, we felt it matched the work of this parish as well. Given all the hard work done at our parish over the years trying to provide food baskets during Thanksgiving and Christmas, and other food benefits provided, we felt it would be a match well-made.
Since arriving, in partnership with Love INC who vettes each person or family in need first, the pantry has doubled the amount of people it serves! In great thanks for SH parishioners Donna Esch and Cathy Bertoia who have taken the lead on it, it continues to flourish. That said, there are now great needs to keep it thriving! The pantry currently operates M-W, 1:30pm-3:30pm out of Lourdes Hall.
–Volunteers: They are in need of 2-3 more volunteers each of the days it operates in order to help pack groceries and serve those who arrive in need. Please help!
–Monetary donations: Money collected for this pupose will be earmarked for the pantry and will help provide for at-cost food purchases through “Feeding America”. Donations given online for this purpose can have a comment added as such. Checks given can have a comment added in the memo line “Food Pantry”.
