What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?
Our formation for children is transitioning to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). CGS is religious formation of Children in the Montessori Method. There are three levels of CGS: Level 1 (3-6yr olds), Level 2 (6-9 yr olds), and Level 3 (9-12 yr olds). Each level of CGS takes place in a prepared space suitable for the developmental needs of the child. This prepared space is called an atrium. We plan to build both a Level 1 and a Level 2 atrium here at St. Mary’s by the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.

We are in need of help in the following capacities:
- Catechist for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (this requires a period of formation)
- Preparing the Level 1 and Level 2 Atria
- Carpentry
- Sewing
- Painting
- Other Crafting skills
- Intercessors for this project

Safe Environment
All catechists and other volunteers serving in programs/ministries involving minors have met the requirements for volunteers working with children according to the Diocese of Grand Rapids’ standards.
