What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?
Our formation for children is transitioning to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). CGS is religious formation of Children in the Montessori Method. There are three levels of CGS: Level 1 (3-6yr olds), Level 2 (6-9 yr olds), and Level 3 (9-12 yr olds). Each level of CGS takes place in a prepared space suitable for the developmental needs of the child. This prepared space is called an atrium. At this time, we have a fully operative Level 1 and Level 2 Atrium and we will begin building our Level 3 Atrium this summer. Opening of the the Level 3 Atrium is a ways down the road. In the meantime, we are partnering with other area parishes to ensure that children of all ages have access to faith formation. Please contact Liz if you have any questions about formation for your child.

Get Involved
We are in need of help in the following capacities:
- Catechist for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (this requires an extended period of formation) – catechists are responsible for presenting formation/materials to the children
- Aid for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd – aids assist the catechists in maintaining a prayerful and peaceful environment for children to talk and listen to God
If you think you might be able to assist us in any way, please contact Liz.
Safe Environment
All catechists and other volunteers serving in programs/ministries involving minors have met the requirements for volunteers working with children according to the Diocese of Grand Rapids’ standards.
