The bell tower repair (“Mary’s Crown”) was completed & work is underway in both Hennessy’s and our new Atrium for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
The white top of the bell tower underwent repairs recently and were completed ahead of schedule! We were able to have the entire white top, otherwise referred to as “Mary’s Crown”, completely refashioned out of copper, reinforced under it to make it stronger, and completely repainted. It turned out to be a magnificent finish, should last for a lifetime, and looks wonderful!
In Hennessy’s, the “front bar” area has received a new paint job, has had the booths removed to increase seating capacity and make it more conducive to gatherings, and work is being done to warm the space up. Furniture is being moved in (and eventually reupholstered) as well as the library we received from Sacred Heart parish (and other parishioners) is being incorporated. Work still to be done includes; art work to be hung, coffee bar amenities to be added, and some other touches to make it a space where anyone can gather, while still retaining its ability transform to host larger parish celebrations such as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception or St. Patrick’s Day. When work is complete we hope to host some open hours where anyone came come and read, pray, engage in conversation, grab coffee, or just relax!
Work is very much still in progress, but we wanted you to see it underway!
In our Atrium, great progress is being made in getting our space ready for our children – “manipulatives” (activities children can do with their hands), visuals, learning presentations, and work stations are all being prepared (many home made by parishioners!). This will truly be a beautiful Atrium for the children to learn in! Our catechists will soon finish their training and will be ready for the Fall.
