In reality, addiction is much simpler, including everything from substances to technology, screen time, work, shopping, and even sugar. Addictions and distractions are used to manage pain—but in the process, end up damaging our brains, our relationships, and our ability to find lasting happiness. Jim gives scientific evidence and practical advice for overcoming wounds, to help hurt people become healed people.
Jim Owens, MA, LPC is a lifelong Catholic who turned his 30 year career as a counselor and professor in higher education toward ministering to those working in the Church. He provides counseling to priests, religious, seminarians and parishioners, gives lectures and presentations to parishes and schools, leads workshops and retreats on healing, and consults with schools and parishes to improve the spiritual and mental health of their communities.His work has been published through Lighthouse Catholic Media, and featured in the Augustine Institute’s 7-part series The Search, hosted by Chris Stefanick.
